Naming and Being - A Philosophical Investigation on Names and objects, with special reference to Igbo anthroponyms

What we call reality is the function of the language we speak. Language and the categories we impose on reality are ways of knowing and dividing the world. Names as very important aspect of language are not mere reference tags or expressions. In Igbo culture, for instance, they often serve very important historical, sentimental, ethical, functions for the family and for the larger community.
