The main theme of this volume of Eco-ethica is . A group of philosophers examine the relationship between nature and culture in an eco-ethical perspective, i. e., in considering human nature and the human environment confronted with today's technological conjuncture.

The second part celebrates the 100th anniversary of the French philosopher Paul Ricoeur (1913 - 2005), who supported the eco-ethica approach and was an inspiration to many participants in the annual eco-ethical symposia. It includes an unpublished text by Ricoeur.
