Klappentext
This volume assembles Inge Leimberg's major contributions to the study of John Donne, George Herbert, Richard Crashaw, and Henry Vaughan, as well as of later poets such as Walt Whitman, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and T. S. Eliot. Most of the essays were originally written in German and have now been translated. They are presented in the order of original appearance and reflect the evolution of Leimberg's thought on things metaphysical in English literature from the early Enlightenment to classical modernism.

Inge Leimberg is Professor Emerita of English Literature at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, where she taught from 1973 to 1992. As a teacher and a scholar, two subjects have interested her most: Shakespeare and Metaphysical Poetry.
