Welfare Regimes in South-Eastern Europe

The study is a major contribution to comparative welfare state research, while assigning Serbia and Croatia to well-known models. It identifies distinct regime types in labour market and long-term care policy fields and shows (in)consistency in the underlying welfare logics. Moreover, the study delivers a comparative account of labour market and long-term care policies in Serbia and Croatia, using in-depth country studies. The book provides a comprehensive picture on structures, processes and key challenges, as well as respective links to recommended reforms.

Michael Sauer is employed as lecturer at the Chair for Social Policy and Qualitative Social Research Methods at the University of Cologne. Further he works as a consultant and regional expert on the Western Balkans.
